A demanding mountain route — the 02-Sentiero Cristallina packs 13.0 km and 1,747 m of climbing into a 5h 52min day. Running from Corte di Mezzo to Randinascia, the trail spans an elevation range of 940 m to 2,560 m. At 134 m/km, this is one of the steeper profiles you'll find.
The route breaks into 6 segments. The toughest stretch is the 1.4 km from Poncione di Braga to Capanna Basodino CAS, climbing 280 m — an unrelenting 200 m/km grade. In contrast, the 3.3 km from Cresta del Coro to Randinascia is much gentler — mostly downhill with 342 m of descent.
About 64% of the trail is runnable, but the remaining steep sections will push most people into power-hiking mode. Some pitches hit 60% gradient, so trekking poles are strongly recommended.
Budget roughly 3,901 kcal of energy expenditure and 3.5 L of water. Aim for 60–90 g of carbs per hour to avoid bonking on the longer climbs.
