Discover community routes for trail running, hiking, and cycling
TrailSplits lets anyone create, share, and discover outdoor routes — completely free and without signup. Each route includes an interactive map, elevation profile, and downloadable GPX file you can load onto your GPS watch or phone. Routes are created with the Route Planner, which uses open data for terrain, trails, and elevation across the Alps and beyond.
How to use these routes
Click any route card to view its full page with a map preview and elevation chart. From there you can download the GPX file, open it in the Planner for editing, or view an immersive 3D flyover. You can also search by route name, race, city, or region using the search bar above.
Sharing your own routes
Open the Planner, create a route by clicking on the map or importing a GPX file, then publish it. Published routes appear here automatically — no account required. Your route gets its own page with a shareable link, OG image, and GPX download.
What data does each route include?
Every route shows total distance, elevation gain, an effort-based difficulty rating (Easy, Moderate, Hard, or Epic), and whether the route is a loop or point-to-point. The difficulty score combines distance and elevation gain to give a quick sense of how demanding the route is.
What file format can I download?
Routes are available as GPX files, the universal standard supported by Garmin, Suunto, COROS, Apple Watch, and virtually all GPS devices and apps including Strava, Komoot, and AllTrails.
